Digging: REM’s new album Accelerate

Just bought REM’s new album Accelerate, and I’m about halfway through on my first listen.

Finally! REM is making good music again!

It’s short — 11 tracks, 35 minutes — but so far, it’s good, twangy and catchy, with that little REM edge.

The first two songs are my favs, but I’m sure after I listen to it a thousand times over the next few days I’ll have more.

Give it a listen if you’re a fan of late 80s REM. You’ll dig it.

Good to know! I haven’t really gotten into anything they’d done since Bill Berry left the band. I’ve heard good things about this album, though.

After 24 hours, the first two songs are definitely my favorites, along with “Horse to Water.”

But like lots of good albums, I can see some others growing on me after more listens.

I also bought the album and must say that its pretty awesome. Totally agree with the first two tracks and Horse to Water being my favorites. I’m Gonna DJ is pretty catchy too. Don’t think there has been an album this good by them since the early 90’s.

sweet, ANR! glad you dig the album too

I think “Man Sized Wreath” is probably the closest to you can get to rockin’ REM since Document.
