RTP 2.0 social

posted Apr 4 2007

Heading over to the RTP 2.0 social tonight with MT.Net, anyone interested should check the website for location & directions (Tyler’s Taproom in Durham).

Hoping it’s a good gathering, we need more of this around the Triangle… I’d like less Java/.NET/Linux group get togethers and more web oriented stuff.

Shurely they don’t work anymore

shure earphones

I bought a pair of Shure E2c ear-buds a few years ago. I wanted something I could use in a plane, or mowing the lawn, and still hear the music without listening at ear bleeding levels.

It took a while to get used to having them in your ear, but once you do, it’s awesome. They’re great with bass, and because they’re stuck in your ear, they are kind of “noise-cancelling.” Great for flying.

Yesterday my wife handed them to me. Straight from the wash. I must have put them in my pocket after mowing the lawn over the weekend! Oh the horror!

But they still work.

I’m guessing they made it through the dryer too, otherwise they would s(h)urely have been dead. But they sound great, and they look better than they did when I bought them! Awesome.

live blogging the NCAA championship game

posted Apr 2 2007

The NCAA tourney. It’s like a Bojangles cajun chicken biscuit and picnic fry. It’s the most glorious thing you’ve ever seen, and yet, once you’re done with it, it leaves you in tears.

It’s the harbinger to the dark period. The time between NCAA basketball and football.

Anyway, the game is pretty good so far. I’m live blogging some thoughts as we go along:

Greg Oden is not a college freshman. Maybe his son his, but he’s not.

Florida is going to crush OSU if the refs *cough* Ted Valentine *cough* keep calling fouls on OSU’s guards.

If you’re not into basketball, you gotta be into when animals attack videos. Awesome.

Corey Brewer is pretty good. I can’t believe dude is 6′ 9, has a handle like that, and can shoot the 3. That’s unreal.

Somebody told me they were going to be online during the game tonight. Looks like somebody lied.

The freshman that are in this game are unbelievable. I can’t believe some of the players in this game are so young. Too bad they’ll all be in the NBA in the next year or two.

Jim Nance and Billy Packer have the worst “segue” announcer skills I’ve ever heard. “We’re not seeing any stupid human tricks tonight?” Wow. Billy. Wow.

Oden should have had a T for hanging on the rim, and for slapping the ball after a dunk.

The refs in the tourney this year have been horrible.

Dick Enberg is NCAA tournament kryptonite. Seriously. Who in network television does he have naked pictures of, that he can rant incoherently for 5 minutes of airtime?

Florida’s up by 9 in the 2nd half. I’m going with OSU to win. Seriously. OSU just finds a way to win

Florida looks tired, but OSU isn’t rebounding very well. A few more offensive put backs and OSU would be right back in this.

Wow, long 3 from Humphrey. That was from Athens. I heard somewhere Florida can shoot the 3.

Lots of fouls called in this game. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that CBS sells ads during FT shots? C’mon guys, let ‘em play.

Florida can’t guard Connelly. That guy is cat quick.

Heh. Billy and Nancy are talking about how Greg Oden doesn’t look 18. You think?

OSU is blowing chances to get back into this, but I’m still sticking with them.

Wow, Florida is wearing OSU down. The Buckeye’s can hit anything from downtown, and still they keep trying. Good thing Thad Matta is such a horrible coach, otherwise OSU would be running all over them.

I had no idea Joakim Noah’s dad was in Milli Vanilli.

ok, I’m starting to think Florida might win now. Up by 12 with 19.8 seconds. I dunno.

Thad Matta’s best coaching move of the night — not fouling with 10 seconds left. Wow, that was terrible. Florida is a good team, but definitely beatable, especially with OSU’s quickness inside. But they did nothing to exploit it.

ok, that’s it, I’m out. Congrats to Florida and OSU. That’s impressive to be in the championship game in both major revenue sports. Even more impressive to win them both (and repeat in basketball).

Nice job Billy. Good luck in Lexington next year. ;)
