MT.Net is Down Under

my brother Mark is in Australia on business. $20 says he’s told someone his name is “Chips O’Toole” and asked them to throw another shrimp on the barbie.

Down Under
Men at Work / Business As Usual

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

“Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.”

Press your luck

I was going to post on the untimely passing of Peter Tomarken, the host of “Press Your Luck”, but as I was GIS’ing for a funny pic of Tomarken for my IM client, I came across a fascinating story:

Having watched Press Your Luck since it premiered, Michael Larson, then an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio, came to the conclusion that the swift, seemingly random flashing lights that bounced around the Press Your Luck board were hardly random at all. By taping the show religiously and pausing the tapes, Larson discovered that there were just six light patterns on the board. With this bit of knowledge, he practiced at home while watching the show and realized that he could stop the board wherever and whenever he wanted, if he just had patience.

Michael Larson won $110,237 with NO WHAMMIES! Read more on this amazing story.

Dana Reeve

If ever you read a story that makes you realize life’s not fair, it’s the recent passing of Dana Reeve.

Dana Reeve, the widow of the late actor Christopher Reeve, has died from lung cancer at age 44, according to a statement from the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

So her husband dies in 2004 after suffering almost 10 years with paralysis, during which time she cared for him completely.

Then in August, she’s diagnosed with lung cancer, having never been a smoker.

And then 7 months, later she’s gone.
