Veterans Day

posted Nov 11 2005

In November of 1919, president Woodrow Wilson proclaimed this day Armistice Day:

To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations..

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the conflict between the Allied forces and Germany ended in an armistice . And so on this day we observe Veterans Day to honor not only those who fought and died in WWI, but to all of those who serve this great country.

And special props to my brothers Mark and Allen(dude, get a blog already!) today.
